I was asked to wear Blue Sapphire of 5 carat by an Astrologer from ganeshaspeaks.com which is based in india. But I was a bit confused if I got an original gemstone or not. They told me to wear it in middle finger in panch-dhatu after small puja on Saturday.
I also wear one more Blue Sapphire ring in my little finger and this stone is not clear (even the color is not blue). I bought this stone from India in 2005 (at 4500 INR). Apart from that, I also wear my engagement Diamond ring in ring finger (from 2009).
I heard that there is an expiry date associated with Blue Sapphire. Is it true?
Regarding my life; time has not supported me from 2011, before that it a lovely time. This is the reason why I am concerned about expiry date of blue sapphire. I also read on a website (via Google) that blue sapphire expires after 4 years. Please shed some light on this.
February 21, 2014 at 1:57 pm #5390RikhavParticipantI have worked at GaneshaSpeaks for 6+ years as a Senior Astrologer and know most people in the team. The advise you get from there will not be wrong generally; unless, you and your astrologers stars are not right at the time.
As far as expiry is considered, there is no such thing. The thing is, if the gem is used for long; it will absorb negative energies from the wearer and the surroundings. This is why after every 4 years you need to cleanse the gemstone and revitalize it.
Wishing you good luck, may God bless you!
Cheers!!!
February 21, 2014 at 8:08 pm #5396buzz_stoneKeymasterHi Sukhdeep,
It will be better if you could share your birth details so that I can suggest you the right gemstone based on your problem.
Regarding the life span of any gemstone; yes, the gemstone will stop giving out its positive energies when it has fully lost its capability of fighting with negative energies. It doesn’t need to be 4 years, even it may loose its entire life with in few days. It mainly depends upon the quality and size of the gemstone (similar to your phones battery).
Regarding the color of Blue Sapphire; even sometimes you may get light blue shaded AAA quality gemstone. So its always better to get a gemstome with certification.
GOD BLESS!!!

Quality of gemstone depends on color, clarity, cut and carat (the same 4C’s used for diamonds). Thus, better the quality, better the price and vice-versa.
COLOR: For different gemstone, different shades of color will have varied price. For example: Light blue sapphire will be cheaper while medium-dark blue sapphire will be higher in terms of price but very-dark blue sapphire price would again be cheaper. So, overall, intensity of color in gemstone many not always increase the price.
CLARITY: For different gemstone, different clarity (purity/inclusion) of gemstone will have varied price. For example: amber with an inclusion of lizard/ant will have higher price than a clean amber gemstone. But, generally, the clearer the gemstone the higher the price. (Note: A clean gemstone can also indicate a fake gemstone when price is very low.)
CUT: A better cut gemstone will always have a higher price.
CARAT: The bigger the size of gemstone, the greater the price.
Determining the quality and price of gemstone (color, clarity and cut) is not an easy task for a novice user. An experienced trader can only calculate it based on his/her experience.

Wonderful response.

February 22, 2014 at 6:16 pm #5404buzz_stoneKeymasterThanks for sharing your experience here, however apart from knowing just whether the gemstone is fake or real; certificate also mentions its composition, inclusions like feather, cracks etc. which can somehow help little bit in deciding the quality and price of gemstone.
And as a gemologist you will be knowing more but a layman doesn’t know much on gemstones. So for a layman I would advise to get gemstone certificate when buying.

February 28, 2014 at 4:50 am #5439HimanshuParticipantThe price of Blue Sapphire starts from Rs. 500/carat to Rs. 1,00,000/carat which depends on color, clarity, cut and origin too.
Mostly all sapphires including Blue Sapphire coming from Bangkok are treated with heat, diffusion, glass filling etc. so comparatively they are cheaper than Sri-Lankan sapphires. However, sapphires from Sri-Lanka are now also being treated to enhance color and clarity so one has to be cautious when buying.
For example: Heat or diffusion treatment can transform a white and yellow sapphire into blue sapphire enhancing color. Glass filling treatment fills the cracks, spots and inclusions inside a gemstone through laser hole drilling process enhancing clarity. Regarding origin of gemstone, it is very difficult to conclude origin even by good gemological lab so most of the time it is not mentioned in certificate and one has to solely trust seller on this case. Many local lab don’t even mention treatment (also known as “enhancement” to confuse) maybe because they are not able to detect it. So it is advised that one should get a certificate from a reputed gemological lab. The best gemological lab at Jaipur (GTL) charges around Rs. 1000 for a test of blue sapphire.
Grade of gemstones are different for each firm and market; as there is no international or national grading system for gemstones other than diamond. So, I will not able to ascertain quality of blue sapphire unless I have multiple pictures of all different grades of blue sapphire.
Ask GaneshaSpeaks:
- To email few “close-up” pictures of each grade if you are planning to pay that good amount for it and upload them in this thread.
- If gemstone certificate will contain information about treatment and origin? And incase if mentioned information on gemstone certificate provided by them does not match when certified with another reputed lab by me then will you take it back and make refund or exchange?
- If price given by them are best in the market for that specific quality?
For Rs. 10,000 per carat one can get “very good” and decent quality of blue sapphire for astrological purpose. I generally recommend people to go for range between Rs. 5,000 to 8,000 per carat for blue sapphire as it will get them quite good quality. I have been dealing in gemstones for quite sometime and from my experience I can tell you that there is no fix price/margin in gemstones, so many times seller charges unnecessary price!
Regarding blue sapphires being sold at eBay, I can say that most cheap gemstones there are treated and are from Bangkok however they should not be fake unless seller intention is to cheat. One can also find some good deals there if searched thoroughly. I had also recommended eBay to other visitors earlier but don’t know if they bought from there. If you need any more information or help you can directly reach me through website contact form at http://www.GemstoneBuzz.com/Contact.
Note: Always get your gemstone certified by reputed gemological labs like GII, IGI, GTL (GJEPC) etc.
Wish you all the best!
Himanshu
February 28, 2014 at 1:58 pm #5442SukhdeepParticipantDear Himanshu,
Sorry to disturb you again, please find enclosed e-mail received from Ganesha Speaks.
We understand your concern. However rest assure the product we are providing is the authentic one and we take care of the quality & intensity as we are running a brand name “Bejan Daruwalla”. As far as the certificate is concerned, the one which we are providing it’s sample is attached along with the gemstone images.
We provide the certificate after getting embedded in Ring or Pendant so as to be assured that the stone has not been changed. More over GIA certificates are used for Diamonds only. However, the GIA certificates will costs extra Rs. 4000 & require 5-6 days more as it will be certified from Bombay.

Even I don’t get that and appealed to their decision. I don’t know what happened after that time, my daughter is over 3 years now, but she has not been able to see her grand parents because of VISA. I lost two jobs in between in this time. Now, I am doing my own business (creating double glazing and building enquiry) and get job as I have previous experience of contractor In UK.
I don’t want to go back India without VISA . So please let me know if you can help me.
Kind Regards.

March 1, 2014 at 4:50 am #5447buzz_stoneKeymasterI can understand your frustation, can you please provide your details in full; like 11:45 AM or PM (or mention in 24 hours format). So that I can assist you more accurately.

March 1, 2014 at 5:03 am #5448RikhavParticipantI empathize with you, more so when you now have no recourse to anything after selling off property and all.
Considering birth time as 11:45 AM, you had taken these decisions during Sani Sade Saathi so matters went un-expected. The Sade Saathi has now long been over, so the severety of the problem should have diminished considerably.
If 11:45 AM is correct time, then the gems you are wearing Blue Sapphire and Diamond are perfect. Just rejuvenate them and all will be well.
Wishing you good luck, May God bless you and above all?
Cheers
