I disagree. If we are talking about clean, faceted gems, I vote for GRANDIDIERITE (one known specimen), MUSGRAVITE (8 known speciments), or SERENDIBITE (3 known speciments).

I agree that Ruby is probably the most expensive consumer gem.

I think Alexandrite is the most expensive gem in the world. Others can be Tanzanite and Paraiba Tourmaline.

The most expensive gem in the world is " EMERALD--OR-- PANNA. Emerald is even dearer than Diamond. There is a saying in Hindi " Panney ki dalali mein Heerey(diamonds) Muft mil jatte hain. The best quality of Emeralds come from the mines of COLOMBIA.
